About the race

The Gobi March is a six-stage, 250 kilometre foot race held in Mongolia — the founding race of the 4 Deserts series. Competitors cross the Orkhon Valley on the edge of the Gobi over seven days, entirely self-supported: everything you eat and wear for the week goes in the pack on your back, and the organisers provide a water ration, hot water and a tent place at camp.

Three marathon-length stages build to the Long March — 80 km over two days — before a final marathon and a short run to the finish. The 2027 edition runs 20–26 June 2027. Read the full story of the Gobi March →

Route data from the recorded GPX tracks of each stage; distances and ascent are computed from those tracks (ascent smoothed with a 3 m threshold, so it will differ slightly from any watch total). Basemaps © OpenStreetMap contributors, OpenTopoMap (CC-BY-SA), Esri World Imagery, © CARTO.
